Hello Everyone,

We, Milind Mishra and Anushree Karhade, are the Directors of the Jacksonville Hindu Day Camp this year. Jacksonville Hindu Day Camp is a unique excursion into the world of Hinduism and a wonderful place to make life-long friends. Camp this year will be held from June 13-17 and 20-24 at the Hindu Temple.

In general each day is split into two parts. During the first half of the day, we do essentially the scholarly indoors part of the camp, such as the morning Puja, Sanskrit class, and Philosophy lessons which are based on this year’s theme, the Mahabharat epic. The second half, after lunch, consists of indoor and outdoor sports and games time, club time, and the special activity for each day. Special activities planned for this year include Rangoli, Holi, Diwali, Brother-Sister day, and much more! We keep them centered around the important holidays and festivities of the Hindu culture and religion.

Throughout camp, campers will be supervised by able counselors chosen based off their ability to lead and their enthusiasm towards the camp. There will also be an adult supervisor on duty during camp hours. An informational orientation will be implemented before camp on June 11th from 1:00 PM — 2:00 PM. This orientation is not mandatory but we highly encourage all parents to attend so you can get a glimpse of what we do at camp. On June 24th, there will be a Parents Night where parents of campers and counselors will be invited to come at 7:00 PM to watch the proceedings of the everyday camp as the campers do the regular Puja we perform every morning and present what they have accomplished in their respective clubs.

We have recently put out Jacksonville Hindu Day Camp posters at the Indian Grocery Stores, Restaurants, and the Temple.

In addition, we have attached (see link with attachment below) electronic copies of the camper and counselor applications to this email. The application deadline is May 1st, 2016.
